The founder of cyberpunk, William Gibson, had written the first-draft Alien screenplay, which was later turned into a novel by the "Queen of Cyberpunk," Hugo Award-winning novelist Pat Cadigan. This screenplay, never before adapted, reveals the fates of Ripley, Newt, the synthetic Bishop, and Corporal Hicks in a direct sequel to Aliens.
When the Colonial Marines vessel Sulaco docks with Anchorpoint, a space station and military installation the size of a small moon, a new form of Xenomorph appears. The Sulaco, on its return journey from LV-426, had entered a sector controlled by the "Union of Progressive Peoples," a nation-state engaged in an ongoing cold war and arms race. U.P.P. personnel boarded the Sulaco and found hypersleep tubes with Ripley, Newt, and an injured Hicks. A Facehugger attacked the lead commando, and the others narrowly escaped, taking what remains of Bishop with them.
The Sulaco continued to Anchorpoint, where it fell under the control of the military's Weapons Division. A team of Colonial Marines and scientists boarded the Sulaco and was assaulted by a pair of Xenomorph drones. In the fight, Ripley's cryotube was badly damaged and she was taken aboard Anchorpoint, where she was kept comatose. Newt and an injured Corporal Hicks were awakened, and Newt was sent to Gateway Station on the way to Earth.
The U.P.P. sent Bishop to Anchorpoint, where Hicks began to hear rumors of experimentation — the cloning and genetic modification of Xenomorphs. The kind of experimentation that could yield a monstrous hybrid, and perhaps even a Queen.
Written by Hugo Award-winning novelist and "Queen of Cyberpunk" Pat Cadigan, based on Gibson's never-produced first draft, this story delves into the aftermath of the events of Aliens, exploring the fates of the beloved characters and the emergence of a new Xenomorph threat.
